Elluminate Live! (Classroom Software) Client
Minimum System Requirements and Environmental Requirements
We recommend a hard-wired connection (users who have wireless laptops are the most susceptible to instability and synchronisation problems, and your being wireless may cause OTHERS in the class to have problems, as well, which isn't very fair).
Latencies (Ping) can be tested here: http://www.speedtest.net and http://www.pingtest.net
Post us your results if you are unsure :-)

Java Desktop System (Linux) -
the latest versions of Ubuntu work "out of the box"; earlier than
9.04, "Jaunty Jackalope", require a special sudo install as many teachers refer
to internet websites that use Flash animations.

Pentium III 1 GHz processor
256 MB RAM
20 MB free disk space
Soundcard with speakers and microphone or headset
56 kbps Internet connection (2MB

NOTE ALSO: Memory resident programs (like Skype, MSN, Communicator, Limewire) would best be turned off, for freeing up system resources, and also for better security and removing the likelihood of distractions. We suggest setting up a separate "Schoolwork only" account, with all potential distractions uninstalled and / or disabled !
Students (and their siblings and the rest of their family) need to be told of the importance of NO DISTRACTIONS while in class.
Please ensure that:
other communication software is turned off (for example, MSN, Yahoo Communicator, emails, other web browsers);
that the student's mobile phone is turned off;
and that
distractions such as background music are kept to a minimum (certainly we would
recommend having NO TV and NO music on in the same room while lessons are
going on - when speaking on the mic, the teacher and other students frequently
cannot hear what is being said, which is distracting).
