Maths Methodology
The Mathematics courses emphasise
practical aspects of Maths, using interactive teacher-led learning with lots of
short, quick practice exercises to drive home new material and keep interest-
and attention-levels high ! Thus, students' mathematical knowledge and
understanding are fostered, and application of maths concepts to solve actual
practical problems will be developed.
The classes are led by the teacher using the microphone (backed up by text, whiteboard and presentation software, as appropriate). The students respond with a combination of written short answers, responses over the microphone, and on the interactive whiteboard.
Home assignments are set most weeks, distributed and collected using and interactive administration package; these are marked and quick feedback is given to the student.
Small amounts of "Guided Work" may be set, to stretch the student, and to cover additional non-core topics.
Introductory classes will visit topics following the National Curriculum over a
two- or three-year cycle.
Intermediate students could optionally follow courses to link in with the
Common
Entrance Exam, with SATs testing, or else start on Exam classes (depending on
ability).
Exam Students will focus on the
IGCSE
exams.
