History / Geography History/Geography As in other subjects,
the Humanities classes are led by the teacher using the microphone (backed up by
text, whiteboard and multimedia software). The students respond with a
combination of short written answers, verbal responses, and using our
interactive whiteboard. Frequent dipping into other websites for materials
(especially pictures, text, and video-clips) is normal in History and Geography
lessons at Briteschool, especially given the geographic location of the
students! Introductory
Humanities is cycled over a two to three year period, with history and geography
each being taught as a discrete subject by a specialist teacher for one hour a
week. The courses satisfy the main requirements for the Common Entrance Exam and
Key Stage 3 in the UK, but also have the flexibility to address topics with a
global relevance and to respond to the interests of the students. Home assignments are
set most weeks; these are marked and feedback is given to the student. Exam Students will be
offered both IGCSE Geography and IGCSE History this year.
Students who have already commenced a course similar to the IGCSE will be
welcomed, and the course delivery adapted to suit their requirements as far as
possible. Textbook requirement for pre-IGCSE
History classes: 'Re-discovering Britain: 1750-1900',
